Q & A
Q: Will FK enVISION be a competitive club?
A: Yes. Our vision with FK enVISION is to give the Cedar Valley an option that supports a higher level of commitment. We will only have 1 team per age group with our select teams meaning roster spots are limited. We want to establish a culture and set a standard here in the Cedar Valley for player development so that we are able to keep the talent here and give them more opportunities to showcase themselves as they pursue their soccer goals.
Q: Will FK enVISION have Rec teams?
A: No. FK enVISION will hold Select Teams , Academy Teams, and pre-Academy teams only.
Q: What league(s) will FK enVISION play in?
A: The ISL(Iowa State League) is the current league we are in, however a higher level of importance is placed on tournaments & our training regimen. We are primarily a competitive travel team so we do not participate in too many league games with our Select teams. Our Academy teams(U9 & U10) will play league games.
Q: Will we play in tournaments?
A: Yes. We are aiming for a more tournament heavy approach vs a league approach, in particular with our first few seasons. This will allow us to be a little more selective with where we play as well as giving us a chance to find an appropriate level of competition for our players.
Q: Why will there be no high school teams to start?
A: Staffing does play a part in the decision to not have high school teams right away, but the bigger picture behind it is that we are looking to establish a foundation with our youth programs so that the players who come through enVISION have had a chance to develop through our system. We are thinking about the long-term development of our players and the long-term growth of the game within our community. High School age teams(U15-U19) will happen but will not be rushed.
Q: How will the Individual Training and Small Group Training work now with FK enVISION and enVISION Soccer Training?
A: Individual Training & Small Group Training is at the heart of our player development so this will continue to play a MASSIVE part in how we build out our full season plans. The Small Group Training will be built into the training regimen of all FK enVISION teams and access to Individual Training will be made available throughout the year as the schedule allows. For example, a select number of Individual Training spots will be made available throughout the year with the majority of them taking place during our off seasons or slower periods of the year. Exact numbers and dates are TBD.
Q: Will we still have Open Play’s?
A: Yes. Open Play’s(small-sided games) will be built into the season as well, especially in the Winter and during slower weeks while in-season so the players will have extra opportunities to play and compete.
Q: Will tournament fees be included in the base price or additional?
A: The base price will include a set number of tournaments in it for each season but there will be opportunities for extra tournaments at an additional cost.
Q: What is the plan if there are not enough individuals for a certain age group?
A: The first option we will explore is a combining of age groups if we feel that the level of the players is close enough to still give a good and fair experience. If combining age groups is not feasible, then we will not hold a team for that age group. Growing with quality is very important to us so rushing to put a team together is not something we plan to do because we know the experience for the players and the families would not be up to our standards.
Q: Is there potential to join an older age group if my age group is not offered?
A: Yes. If we are able to combine age groups to form teams, that is an option we will explore. We will also invite players to join an older age group if we do not have a team for their actual age group and if we feel they would be a good fit with the older group.
Q: If my player does not make a team or decides to join a different club, will they still be able to participate in Individual and Small Group Training as they do today with enVISION?
A: Yes. If you are not on an enVISION team whether it’s because we don’t have one for your age group or you don’t make a team or you decide to join another club, you will still be able to take advantage of our 1:1 and Small Group Training programs. Slots throughout the year will be more limited since the number of hours we are able to offer will slightly change due to team practices, but those slots will still be available to all.
Q: Where will practices be held?
A: Our indoor-training sessions will be held at the enVISION Soccer Training facility (4220 Riders Rd. Cedar Falls, IA 50613). Outdoor practices will be held behind Fit Courts in Cedar Falls, IA (924 Viking Rd. Cedar Falls, IA 50613).
Q: How many times a week will teams train?
A: At minimum you can expect the following:
Fall & Spring - 2 practices/week for U11 & U12 and 3 practices/week for U13’s and up. 75-90 minute practices.
Winter - 1 practice/1 small group training sessions/week for U11-U15. 60 minute practices.
Small Group Training Sessions and/or Open Plays will be scheduled on lighter weeks that have no league games or tournaments.
Q: (MULTI-SPORT ATHLETES) If my player plays other sports and there are conflicts with practice schedules and/or game schedules, what sort of impact does that have? What sort of flexibility will there be? Will we be removed from the team for absences?
A: Attendance matters. Not only is it a good skill for individuals to possess but it is a major key in developing chemistry and consistency within a team. The contribution of every player matters and as our slogan suggests, it will take a togetherness from everyone to accomplish our goals because TOGETHER IT’S POSSIBLE. With that being said, please continue reading for our stance on attendance.
A typical week may include team practice sessions, small group training sessions, and open plays. We expect the players to attend all practice sessions while we are in-season during Fall and Spring, some more leeway will be allowed during the Winter months. If players miss practice, they will not be removed from the team but it will impact their eligibility to start and if they are missing on a regular basis, their minutes will be affected as well. (Affected minutes primarily applies to U13+).
Small Group Training sessions are VERY HIGHLY recommended but won’t be required so if an athlete has a practice for another sport on the day of a Small Group Training session, they won’t be penalized for missing those so long as they attend the team practice sessions during the week. Open Plays will be held on the weekends that we do not have any games or tournaments and will be optional with no effect on playing time.
There are plenty of things out of our control that may lead to absences such as being sick, injured, family obligations, life happening, etc, so as long as these absences are communicated, we will work around them. During the Winter months, we will be more flexible with attendance if you are in-season with another winter sport but keep in mind that attendance will still play a role in team selections for indoor tournaments.
We do aim to be as flexible as we can be and will work with families and players as much as we can but we are also attempting to set a standard with FK enVISION. For each one of our teams, whatever we put into it collectively is what we will get out of it. This applies to coaches and players.
Q: If my player joins FK enVISION, will they still be able to participate in ODP and id2 even though it is a new club?
A: Yes, players will still be able to try out for ODP and participate in it regardless of which club they are a part of, new or old. Players will also be able to continue participating in id2 if they have already been scouted and FK enVISION can send player recommendations to the id2 program if we feel they are ready for that level.
Q: If any U15 teams are formed following tryouts this year, will they move on as U16 next season or will there still be no high school teams next year(2025/26)?
A: If we are able to have any U15 teams this coming season, the plan is to continue with those teams as U16 the following season once they hit high school and keep them together as U17, U18, and U19 for the following years.
Q: After bids go out, how quickly will we know if there are enough kids for a team in their age group? What is the turnaround time to accept or deny a bid to join?
A: Bids for U11-U14 go out on June 11th at 8:00 AM and bids for U15 go out on June 18th at 8:00 AM. If we do not have the numbers to hold a specific age group, then everyone who registered for that age group will receive an email around 2:00 PM on bid day letting you know that we did not end up with enough players to form that age group which will give you enough time to consider bids elsewhere. We will attempt to combine groups if we feel that the number of players and the level of players would make sense to do so. If that is the case, then on bid you may receive a bid for another age group other than the one you tried out for. Everyone will have until 8:00 PM the day of bid day to respond. All players are highly encouraged to try out at other clubs. We want everyone who wants to play to have an opportunity to play even if that is not at enVISION.
Q: Will only players who participate in enVISION programs receive bids?
A: No. Any player is welcome to try out for one of our teams. You do not need to participate in an enVISION Soccer Training program to be eligible to receive a bid following tryouts.
