The enVISION Way

Club Philosophy

At FK enVISION, our philosophy is built on the belief that development—both as athletes and as individuals—happens through commitment, accountability, and an unrelenting pursuit of growth. We cultivate an environment where players are encouraged to take risks, embrace challenges, and push beyond their perceived limits. Confidence, resilience, and a no-excuses mindset are not just traits we instill on the field but qualities that will serve our players long after their playing days are over.

Technical ability is at the core of our development model. We prioritize building fundamentally sound and technically proficient players, knowing that a strong foundation unlocks creativity, composure, and decision-making under pressure. Our training methodology is intentional, structured, and focused on mastery of technique to ensure every player has the tools to succeed at the highest levels of the game.

But FK enVISION is more than just player development—it is a culture of unity, teamwork, and shared commitment. “Together It’s Possible” is not just a slogan; it is the driving force behind everything we do. Success is achieved through collective effort, mutual trust, and the belief that we rise by lifting each other. Whether on the field or in life, the lessons learned here will carry forward, shaping not just great athletes, but strong, capable individuals ready to take on whatever comes next.

Playing Time

At FK enVISION, our approach to playing time evolves as players progress through our program, balancing development with competition.

  • U9 & U10: Players receive equal playing time and experience all positions to develop a well-rounded understanding of the game.

  • U11 & U12: While all players will play, playing time is not entirely even. Players are rotated through multiple positions to enhance their versatility while maintaining a competitive edge, especially in tournament play.

  • U13 – U15: Playing time is earned based on work ethic, attitude, attendance, behavior, and ability. Players are rotated between a few positions that align with their strengths and developmental needs.

  • U16+: Players compete for playing time and primarily play 1-2 positions that best suit their skill set and team needs.

Our goal is to develop confident, adaptable players while fostering a competitive environment that prepares them for higher levels of play.

Guest Play Policy

Our club’s policy does not permit players to guest play for other teams. This decision reflects our commitment to continuity, development, and team chemistry. Soccer is a team-oriented sport where consistent training and competition alongside the same group of players is essential for growth, trust, and understanding on the field. Guest playing disrupts this continuity and can lead to challenges in reintegrating into our system after exposure to different coaching styles and team dynamics.

As a club, we take our role in the development of our players very seriously. We believe it is our responsibility—not that of other clubs—to guide and shape their progress, both on and off the field. Guest playing undermines this responsibility and may interfere with the long-term goals we have for each athlete. However, this policy is not about limiting opportunities—it’s quite the opposite. Our priority is to provide our players with as many meaningful opportunities as possible to compete, develop, and grow within our own structured environment. With the competitive schedule, training sessions, and additional development opportunities we offer, there should be no need to guest play elsewhere. Additionally, guest playing increases the risk of overuse injuries, fatigue, and burnout, which can hinder development and limit availability for our team. We appreciate your support in maintaining this policy for the benefit of everyone involved.

Exceptions to Our Guest Play Policy

Our players are welcome to participate in ODP (Olympic Development Program) and National Identification Programs, as these are independent pathways for high-level player identification and development. However, any other clubs or programs within the state of Iowa that offer guest play opportunities fall under our policy and are not permitted.

If you are unsure whether a particular program or event qualifies as an exception, please reach out to Stevo at stevo@envisionsoccertraining.com for clarification. By accepting a roster spot on Bid Day, you are also accepting our Guest Play Policy. Violations of this policy will result in immediate removal from the club. We appreciate your understanding and commitment to the principles that guide our team’s development.

Roles of Players, Parents, and Coaches

At FK enVISION, we believe that player development is a shared responsibility. For athletes to reach their full potential, players, parents, and coaches must each fulfill their distinct roles. When all three groups stay committed to their responsibilities, we create an environment where players can grow, develop, and succeed—not just in soccer, but in life.

Players

The primary responsibility of a player is to take ownership of their development. This means showing up with a strong work ethic, maintaining a growth mindset, and embracing both success and adversity as part of the process. Players must be open to feedback, willing to put in the extra work, and take responsibility for their own improvement. If they are unhappy with their playing time or performance, it is their job—not their parents’—to communicate with their coach, ask for feedback, and take action to improve. Soccer, like life, is about learning how to handle challenges, and players who learn to advocate for themselves will be better prepared for the real world.

Parents

A parent's role is to support, encourage, and provide perspective. We understand that you always want what’s best for your child, but the best way to help them grow is by allowing them to face challenges and develop resilience. Your job is not to coach from the sidelines, question playing time decisions, or intervene when your child is struggling. Instead, focus on being a steady source of support—encourage them to take ownership, remind them that growth comes through discomfort, and trust the process. If they come to you frustrated, guide them toward solutions rather than making excuses. The best thing you can do for their development is to help them build the confidence and accountability needed to handle adversity.

This is especially important when it comes to playing time and roster decisions. At FK enVISION, every decision we make in this regard is for the benefit of the team. While we understand that parents want the best for their child, questioning coaching decisions about playing time disrupts our process and makes it more difficult to do our jobs effectively. We pride ourselves on being honest with our players—we communicate directly with them about what they need to improve in order to earn more playing time. It is their responsibility to take that feedback and put in the necessary work.

If your child is frustrated with their playing time, we encourage you to redirect them to have a conversation with their coach rather than stepping in on their behalf. Learning to ask for feedback, handle constructive criticism, and take ownership of their development is an essential part of their growth—not just as an athlete, but as a person. We are tough on our players because we care, and sometimes that means holding them accountable in ways that might be uncomfortable. However, it is through these challenges that they build resilience, mental toughness, and a stronger sense of personal responsibility—skills that will serve them long after their soccer career is over.

We know you, as parents, always have your child’s back, and we value your role in their journey. But part of that support means allowing them to navigate adversity and step up to advocate for themselves. We do not see this as coaches vs. parents; we are all on the same team when it comes to helping our players succeed. However, there are certain boundaries that must be respected in order for us to do our jobs effectively. Trust the process, trust the coaching staff, and most importantly, trust your child’s ability to grow through the challenges they face.

Coaches

Our role as coaches is to create an environment where players can develop technically, tactically, mentally, and emotionally. We hold players accountable, set high standards, and challenge them to push past their comfort zones. We are honest with our players—if they need to improve, we tell them exactly what areas they need to work on. Our focus is always on what is best for the team while also fostering individual growth.

Stevo believes that one of the greatest responsibilities of a coach is to be whatever a player needs in that moment. Sometimes, they need a friend. Other times, they need a motivator, a mentor, or even the "bad guy" who challenges them to be better. A great coach understands when to push and when to support, when to hold them accountable and when to pick them up. It’s not always easy, and it’s not always what players want in the moment, but it’s what they need to grow.

At FK enVISION, we are committed to shaping players into resilient, confident individuals who are ready for the challenges of life beyond the game. When players take responsibility, parents provide support, and coaches lead with honesty and high standards, we create the best possible environment for development. Each role is crucial, and when we all commit to playing our part, Together, It’s Possible.

Travel & Hotel Expectations

When we travel for tournaments, we represent FK enVISION both on and off the field. Our behavior at hotels, restaurants, and anywhere we go should reflect the values of respect, discipline, and professionalism. We are guests in these places, and it is our responsibility to act accordingly.

At the hotel, players are expected to be respectful of other guests, hotel staff, and teammates. This means no running or being excessively loud in hallways, no roughhousing in rooms, and no unnecessary disturbances. Curfews will be enforced, and players should be in their rooms at the designated time to ensure they are getting the rest they need to perform at their best. Injuries from goofing off are unacceptable and completely avoidable—we cannot afford to lose players due to carelessness.

After games, recovery is the priority. Players should not be running around the hotel, swimming for hours, or doing anything that will drain their energy or increase the risk of injury. Rest, hydration, and proper nutrition should be the focus between games so that we can compete at the highest level throughout the tournament. There will be time to relax and enjoy the trip, but we must balance that with taking care of our bodies and respecting our commitment to the team.

Everywhere we go, we carry the FK enVISION name with us. Let’s make sure we represent our club, our families, and ourselves in a way that makes us proud. Together, It’s Possible.
